  6:30pm - 9:00pm

The meeting will be held at:

  Davis Public Library
  Blanchard room
  315 East 14th St.
  Davis, California 95616

Presentation:

  Postfix

Presented by: Rod Roark, Sunset Systems

Postfix is an open source mail transfer agent that started life as
an alternative to the widely-used 'Sendmail' program. Postfix
attempts to be fast, easy to administer, and secure, while at the same
time being 'sendmail'-compatible enough to not upset existing users.

Postfix runs on AIX, BSD, HP-UX, IRIX, LINUX, MacOS X, Solaris,
Tru64 UNIX, and other UNIX systems. Its features include Transport
Layer Security (TLS), advanced content filtering, support for numerous
database backends, and mbox- and Maildir-style mailboxes.
It is known for its resilience against buffer overflows and ability
to handle large amounts of email.

  About the Speaker:

Rod Roark founded Sunset Systems in 1998, initially offering
preconfigured Linux computers for almost any purpose, and more
recently specializing in open source medical software.
Between 1982 and 1992 his company "The Software Link, Inc." was a
primary developer and vendor of multiuser/multitasking operating systems
and networking software for personal computers. He is also the inventor
of the "zero slot LAN", winning PC Magazine's Technical Excellence Award
    during the 1986 Spring Comdex.

Rod generously donates server space and bandwidth for
the Linux Users' Group of Davis's website and mailing lists.
