  Tuesday
  April 6, 2004
  6:30pm - 9:00pm

The meeting will be held at our regular location:

  Davis Public Library
  315 East 14th Street
  Davis, CA 95616

The topic will be:

  KDE 3.2: A User's Perspective
  presented by: Bill Kendrick

The "K Desktop Environment" (KDE) continues to improve the
functionality and usability of Linux on the desktop. From
drag-and-drop CD audio ripping to instant messaging, KDE is among the
many projects helping Linux become a viable system for most users'
needs. Advanced users can built upon the integrated system KDE
provides by using tools like DCOP and Kdialog, while at the same time,
the component-based architecture lets you pick and choose only the
pieces of KDE you want to install.

Bill Kendrick has used the KDE kiosk framework to set up two Linux-based
public access web browsing terminals in Davis, and recently converted his
father from MacOS 8 to Debian Linux running KDE 3.2.
