(Doors open at 6:00pm; please try to arrive on-time!)

The meeting will be held at our normal location:

  Blanchard Room
  315 East 14th Street
  Davis, CA 95616

The topic will be:

  NVidia's Cg Shader Language

  presented by: Gabe Rosa

Accelerated 3D video cards which were programmable have been available for
a few years now, but were underused because of the complexity of writing
card-dependent assembly language programs and the limitations on the cards
    themselves.

Cg, NVidia's high level shader language makes writing shaders easy by
providing a C-like compilable language that is easy to understand.
With newer generations of cards and a common interface between the
programmer and the hardware, virtually limitless special effects like
glossy bump mapping, one-bounce raytracing, refractive surfaces,
displacement mapping, etc., can be achieved in real-time and with
    little effort from the programmer.
